There is no good reason to play the games in anything but release order. Regardless of where they fall on the Arkhamverse's timeline, each game is a standalone story which does not directly depend on timeline to understand and enjoy them.

Answer: I would strongly recommend the original game over the remaster, particularly on PC. The original game's multiplayer, last I checked some time ago, still has a fair number of community servers still live & getting players (Some up to 50 players for maximum chaos), but seeing obvious aimbots in Killcams wasn't uncommon.

Answer: You should play arkham asylum before arkham city as it is the first part of batman Arkham series. Also, the combats are not as tough as arkham city.

Answer: The former was released in 2009 while the latter was released in 2011. So if you play by release order Arkham City should be played second. Even chronologically Arkham Asylum takes place first. So it should be played before Arkham City however you want to experience it.
